project 1 breadcrumb journeys full set

My design philosophy for this project was that all three posters would incorporate different definitions of the word "journey", tying in to the exhibition's title. The first poster is based on the idea of celestial journeys across different galaxies, which is also representative of the artists' journey from their careers in education to the real working world; this is also why I included the motif of rays of light coming from somwhere in the piece, as it is meant to represent hope for a bright and successful future, no matter where said future may take them. The inclusion of a door in this piece conveys the idea of portals from one life period to another, stepping out of school and into the rest of their lives. The second poster is meant to convey a journey under the sea, with mostly blue hues and shiny bubbles juxtaposed with yellow sunlight shining down. The inclusion of the ocean is also symbolic, as many people find it to be scary and unknown, just like one's future after secondary education, but it can be truly beautiful if you have the courage to venture deep enough through it. Finally, my third poster is representative of journeys on land, specifically into worlds of fantasy and comfort. The imagery of the book is a literal interpretation of the idea that the artists are stepping into a new "chapter" of life, and the light colors and nature motifs symbolizes the rebirth and reinvention that comes with each new phase of one's life. I thoroughly enjoy poster design for events like this one, just as I love coming up with and visually representing different interpretations of a phrase like "Breadcrumb Journeys". Though each journey is very different from each other, they are all equally important and valuable in what they provide to the life of an artist and creative.
